Even though initial manufacturing of the Caldina Wagon was for Japanese consumption only, it was released into the eastern Russian market and then to the South American market. The Russian version came with left hand drive option. The Caldina Wagon also came in four wheel drive, making it a very rugged all purpose vehicle that could go just about anywhere. Its based design is shared by the Premio and the Allion but Toyota changed the entire look of the Caldina Wagon in 2000, giving it a better interior setup, single headlights, and rounder bumpers. This car replaced the sporty Celica as well when Toyota decided to stop producing them, and eventually the Caldina Wagon was fazed out of production in 2007.
